Denis La France is one of the pioneers of organic agriculture in Québec. For the past 25 years, he has taught at Cégep de Victoriaville, and is the author of a reference work, La Culture biologique des légumes. In 2010 he was involved in the creation of CETAB+ with Serge Préfontaine, the current coordinator. A polyglot and a globetrotter, he has been involved in organic agriculture in many countries, particularly in China, where he will travel with a group of farmers in March 2015.
Denis will speak about a number of projects: development by plant selection of an early rye for rolling in direct sowing, carried out with André Comeau; adaptation of a system of permanent plant beds in market-garden production, in collaboration with Maryse Leblanc of IRDA and many other colleagues; fall blacking-out with opaque plastic mulch on oat-pea green manure relay overcropped for next-year planting without soil preparation, in collaboration with Sam Chauvette.
