Luc Gaudreau

Ph. D. in molecular biology, full professor at Université de Sherbrooke

Prof. Gaudreau holds the Canada Research Chair on mechanisms of gene transcription at Université de Sherbrooke, under which he studies the mechanisms that orchestrate the communication and transmission of genetic information within cells.

Prof. Gaudreau and his team have tested a score of common agricultural pesticides of which appreciable levels are found on fruits and vegetables and in sources of drinking water in Québec. They have identified a mechanism that explains how certain pesticides contribute to the development of disease, a discovery that will make it possible to develop a tool to assess these pesticides’ medium- and long-term effects.
