Steven Lalonde purchased his family's home farm and poultry operation in 1984. He and his wife, Loraine, decided to begin the transition to organic production in 1997, with their first fields being certified in 2000. Today, Tullochgorum Farm has 220 acres under certification, growing grain corn, soybeans, wheat, alfalfa and two varieties of popcorn.
Although Steven had experimented with green manure crops in the past, the move to organic production made their use essential to the farm's cropping plan. Years of trial and error have led to a good working knowledge of different green manure varieties and planting techniques.
